From July 26-29, the North American Baptist Conference of Churches (NAB) held their Triennial in Edmonton, Alberta. Our BC Executive Minister, Bob Krahn, and his wife Dawn, loaded up their truck and brought medical supplies, donated by our BC Churches, to be included in a shipment to two hospitals in Cameroon. This is one of the projects that the NAB is involved with; working with White Cross to send medical supplies internationally. There were lots of familiar faces at Triennial and the sessions and times of fellowship were a blessing and encouragement to all who attended.
During the spring and summer Bob had the opportunity to visit several different churches and pastors in our BC Association. He celebrated Canada Day at Sunshine Ridge Baptist Church in Surrey, visited with Phil Johnson at Osoyoos Baptist Church where they serve a Saturday meal to over eight hundred migrant workers during the summer, and ran across the border to visit with Mark Fast at New Hope Bible Fellowship in Oroville, Washington.
God is so good and we praise Him for his many blessings including Andre Deepwell’s 40th Wedding Anniversary, Andy Dietrich’s 25 years at Grace Baptist in Kelowna, Chilliwack’s (MidTown Church) new building, and Trinity Kelowna’s building extension.
Here are few events going on in the Lower Mainland this Fall that you might want to put on your calendars!

October 18-19, Vancouver, Langley, Kelowna: http://growingleadership.com/summit2018/

We would like to invite the pastors and church leaders of the BC Association to join our Executive Minister, Bob Krahn, on Oct. 26 – 27, 2018 (Friday – Saturday) for a challenging workshop on reaching our neighbourhoods for Christ. Forge Canada, NABC and our BC Association have joined together to bring this event to the Metro-Vancouver area. While the cost is $100 per person for the two day event, NAB and the BC Association will cover the full cost for the first registrant from each BC Association church. For all other registrants from your church it will only cost you $10 per person (that’s a 90% savings). This should give you some indication about the high value that we are putting on this seminar. This is an excellent opportunity to bring your key leaders together as we equip them for mission. Thank you Cam for your generosity to our Association pastors and leaders.
Please REGISTER HERE no later than October 19, 2018 for the BC Association subsidized rates.
Day 1 (Friday, October 26) runs from 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Day 2 (Saturday, October 27) runs from 9:00am to 4:00 pm.
Tuesday, May 29th, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (lunch included)
Southside Community Church, 12642 100th Ave, Surrey, BC, V3V 2X7
This conference is for anyone interested in exploring the changing religious landscape of Canada.
As leaders in the Canadian church we know the religious landscape in Canada has changed. We feel it when we’re tasked with closing empty churches or when churches wrestle to find meaningful connection points with their neighbourhoods. We even feel it with new and innovative church plants struggling to reach those with no previous church experience.
Come listen and learn together as we host a unique conversation introducing Canadian Church Leaders and Planters to the Canadian Missionary crisis of the Dones (those who have given up on church and decided they are better off without it) and the Nones (those who are unaffiliated with any organized religion).
The cost of the conference is $60, but the BC Association and the NAB Conference have graciously offered to commit $20 each towards your registration fee for a subsidy total of $40. This subsidized rate of only $20 is valid for the first thirty BC Association pastors and church members that register.
Register here now and receive your $40 discount! After you register you will be redirected to the payment page.
NOTE: NAB Churches and pastors DO NOT register on the New Leaf site as you will not receive the subsidy, but you can find more information here: https://www.newleafnetwork.ca/events/nones-surrey/
Pastors and Churches of the BC North American Baptist Conference:
You are invited to come celebrate what God is doing in our area at the 2018 Virtual Association Meetings. We will join together on June 2nd, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and afterwards enjoy a meal together. We anticipate a blessed time of reflection and decision making for the coming year.
Thank you to the gracious hosts that have opened their facilities to hold the 2018 BC Association Meetings! If you will be attending the virtual conference from your home or church, rather than one of the sites below, please specify those details on the registration form and you will be sent a link to the email you registered with the night before the conference.
Site #1 – Bethany Baptist Church, 22680 Westminster Highway, Richmond
Site #2 – Fort George Baptist Church, 1600 Johnson Street, Prince George
Each church may have four delegates for the first fifty members (50), plus the pastor or pastors. For each additional twenty-five (25) members or fraction thereof, one more delegate can be added.
A PDF Docket will be e-mailed to each pastor, church and registered delegate prior to the meetings. You are welcome to print a copy or view the digital copy on your mobile device during the meetings.
We are excited to announce that we have created some new ways for you to connect with each other and for us to keep you notified of what is going on within the BC Area as well as our denomination as a whole.
On the Prayer Calendar page, we will be uploading videos provided by our churches so that you are able to hear what is going on with your brothers and sisters and also how to pray for them more specifically. You can visit the prayer calendar page here: bcnabc.ca/prayer-calendar
We have also set up a twitter account so that you can receive direct updates and event notices. You can follow us @BCNABC – twitter.com/BCNABC
We have also set up a private page on Facebook which will allow pastors to connect and share praise and prayer requests within a more intimate online environment. Pastors can request to join that page here: www.facebook.com/groups/313537929166
Blessings and hope these tools are helpful for you!
The theme of the 2018 Triennial is Shaped for Mission. Together we will explore and discover how God’s Spirit can and is shaping His church to join His mission in this world.
Shaw Conference Centre will host the NAB family as we gather together for Triennial 2018. Located in the heart of Edmonton, the Shaw Centre is within walking distance of a portion of the River Valley Park System, one of the largest urban park systems in Canada. It is also within easy reach of much of downtown Edmonton. Join us next July as NAB churches, missionaries, and partnering organizations gather to celebrate, reconnect, and attune our hearts as one to follow where God is leading us. Come to Edmonton for Triennial 2018 to be Shaped.
The 2018 Directory is now available. Copies will be distributed at Pastor’s Conference next week, but if you would like a hard copy and do not have a pastor attending the conference, please contact Amy at email@example.com to request a copy.
